Midlands-based FBC Manby Bowdler has secured investment from Horizon Capital following a deal advised on by HCR Law.

The West Midlands based law firm has become part of the newly established Adeptio Law Group, which has received £30m of investment by Horizon Capital “to build a leading national legal services group through the acquisition of regional law firms”. FBC Manby Bowdler, which has its headquarters in Wolverhampton, will be the founding firm of the new group.

The deal required cross-firm support from HCR Law. Led by Corporate Partners Richard Wilkey and Joel Molloy, the team included members of HCR’s Private Equity Team with support from Commercial, Banking, Employment, Real Estate and BRICS – Business Risk, Investigation, Compliance and Secretarial. HCR’s regulatory specialists managed the SRA approval processes.

Horizon Capital’s investment in FBC Manby Bowdler will allow for expansion, along with new jobs and the opportunity for a broader client base and the potential for lawyers to develop in new areas of law.

Richard Wilkey, Head of the national Corporate Team, said: “This deal has seen the founding of a new legal group; providing a range of services to individuals and businesses across the Midlands and beyond.

“These are exciting times for the sector and Horizon Capital’s investment has given FBC Manby Bowdler a real boost in terms of investment, it will also start a succession of acquisitions in the legal sector. We are really pleased for Horizon and the partners at FBC and look forward to working with Adeptio as the opportunity grows.”
