HCR Hewitsons has welcomed two new Partners, Amy Walpole and Julia Hutchings, to its Cambridge office.
These strategic appointments strengthen the firm’s expertise in Family Law, with Amy Walpole, and Residential Property, with Julia Hutchings – both driven by growing client demand across the East of England.
Joining HCR as Head of Family in Cambridge, Amy has strong regional connections, which includes serving as a mentor at the University of East Anglia Law School. A member of Resolution, and a trained Resolution collaborative lawyer, Amy is listed as a Leading Lawyer by WiseLaw.
Ranked in the 2025 Chambers and Partners UK guide, Amy’s specialisms include owner-managed business disputes, children’s cases, wealth preservation and farming divorces. Amy’s appointment follows the recent addition of Beverley Morris, who joined HCR as Head of Family in London.
Amy’s appointment further adds to HCR’s position as one of the largest and most experienced family law teams in the country – with specialist family law teams located in all of HCR’s 10 offices across England and Wales.
Amy said “I’m delighted to join the Family Law team at HCR. With a national standing, the team is renowned for their dedication and commitment to supporting clients at what can often be a challenging time for individuals. I look forward to collaborating with colleagues across Cambridge and the entire firm.”
Julia Hutchings will join Partner and Joint Head of Residential Property, Samantha Houlden, who is also based in Cambridge. With a client-focused approach that earned them the Property Law Team of the Year 2024 award from the Cambridgeshire Law Society, the Cambridge Residential Property Team advises on high-value residential transactions both in the city and across the region.
A seasoned expert in residential property law, Julia will bolster the team with her in-depth knowledge in transfers of equity and advising on both freehold and leasehold transactions.
Similar to HCR’s Family Law practice, the Residential Property team continues to see strong growth advising clients across England and Wales. Julia’s appointment follows the recent addition of Caroline Nemecek, who joined as Head of Residential Property in Cheltenham.
On her appointment, Julia shared “Buying or selling a home is a significant milestone in life. I have been incredibly impressed by the client care and exceptional legal support provided by HCR, reflected in their recognition as the leading experts in Cambridge by Review Solicitors. I am excited to join the team and contribute to its growing reputation.”
Inger Anson, Head of HCR’s Cambridge office added “We’re very pleased to welcome Amy and Julia to HCR Hewitsons. Both the Residential Property and Family Law teams have seen notable growth, led by client demand. As a full service law firm, we are committed to attracting not only top legal talent, but also individuals who share our passion for people culture. We know this combination ensures we continue to deliver market-leading legal services for our clients. I look forward to seeing Amy and Julia contribute to this success while growing their careers and teams at HCR.”
