Client demand for mergers and acquisitions took regional law firm Harrison Clark Rickerbys to second place nationally for the number of deals it completed during the first half of 2020, despite the Covid-19 pandemic.
Demand for deal making from clients meant HCR soared up the Experian national rankings, from 9th to 2nd place, helping clients in tough times to bring more merger and acquisitions over the line than many much larger ‘magic circle’ global law firms in the UK, with 62 completed deals.
This achievement is replicated in the regional listings; the firm took top spot in the South West, South East and Midlands, and third place in the East of England – all further up the rankings than previously.
Rod Thomas, managing partner and head of the firm’s corporate team, said: “This has been a tough period for many of our clients and our focus has been on helping them to keep business moving so that they emerge in the best position possible. We have needed to be flexible and agile in our approach, and the team’s readiness to do whatever it takes for the client is evident in these figures.”
Experian ranks deals by volume and by value – all deals included are worth £500,000 or more. You can see the full report here.
