This month we introduce Ben Thomas, a partner in our real estate team; Ben joined us two years ago and his focus on commercial property brings him into contact with a wide range of clients, both landlords and tenants and those wanting to buy or sell.
He lives in Cheltenham with his wife Jess, and children Izzie (11) and Artie (9) – in his spare time, he supports Gloucester rugby (naturally), but also enjoys watching Wales, playing golf and running.
Ben, who’s been a lawyer for 15 years, helps a wide range of businesses, both national and local, to expand into new premises; one of the most recent is Andy Loos, the Hartlebury-based firm whose portable toilets have graced many a festival field or sporting event. He worked with them to acquire a new headquarters at Foley Business Park in Kidderminster.
“I always genuinely enjoy seeing a client’s business grow in the way they have planned, especially when a property transaction I’ve handled for them has supported that expansion,” Ben said. “It also helps when they’re a joy to act for, as Amy Philpot of Andy Loos was!”
And what would Ben’s top tip for clients be? “Think of your lawyers as business advisors, not just individual lawyers, and get them involved in the everyday workings of your business.”
