Lifetime achievement and professional excellence rewarded

Leading lawyers at Harrison Clark Rickerbys are celebrating after being recognised as the county’s best commercial property team, and the firm’s former senior partner Jonathan Brew has been given a lifetime achievement award for his outstanding contribution to the county’s legal profession at the Worcestershire Law Society’s annual awards dinner.

With two other awards for Junior Solicitor going to Nerys Thomas and Trainee Solicitor going to Daniel De Saulles, the awards evening was a real celebration of the firm’s standing in the county, recognising legal talent and commitment to clients at all career stages. The Society makes eight awards each year – this year’s dinner was held at Worcester Guildhall.

Philip Parkinson, head of the Worcester real estate team, said: “This gives the team a tremendous sense of satisfaction because it is a fitting recognition of the hard work the team have put in delivering high quality work for our clients throughout the county and beyond.”

Jonathan Brew, whose 35 years with the firm created one of the Midlands’ leading family law teams, said: “I am very honoured indeed by this award – it was entirely unexpected and really delightful. This is a marvellous part of the world, where the legal profession and indeed legal education thrives – I shall continue to support the University’s law school wholeheartedly as well as encouraging deeper community links for my firm.”

Winner of the Junior Solicitor of the Year award Nerys Thomas, who shared the award, said: “I feel very honoured – it is a very rewarding conclusion to my first 18 months as a fully qualified solicitor.”

Daniel De Saulles, who won the Trainee of the Year award, said: “I am extremely proud to receive the award, given its tradition and relevance locally”.

Charlotte Thornton-Smith, head of the firm’s Worcester office, said: “This is well-deserved recognition for our staff’s dedication and talent, both in teams and as individuals. I am delighted for them all.”

Charlotte now leads the Worcester office, and Robert Capper now heads up the firm’s specialist sectors.
