Joanne Gilding

Solicitor

Why choose me

Working as a Solicitor in Private Client means every day is different. I really enjoy working with people and find being able to offer support in an, often challenging, time in someone’s life extremely rewarding. I pride myself on being compassionate, approachable and professional and I always aim to respond to clients as soon as possible.

My specialisms include preparing wills and powers of attorney, assisting in estate administration, trust creation and administration and Inheritance Tax and succession planning.

I always provide bespoke and practical advice relevant to each client’s specific circumstances and am happy to adapt to suit an individual’s needs; whether that means meeting a client in one of our offices, over video call or in the comfort of their own home.

Outside of work my focus is fitness. I enjoy running and my current goal is to compete in a Hyrox event by the end of the year. I also have an eight month old Goldador who keeps me on my toes!

Questions my clients ask me

Regardless of the size of your estate, if you own anything at all in your own name, you should consider putting in place a Will, or you risk your assets not being left to the people you would have wished.

If you wait until a potential capacity issue arises, you run the risk of not having the requisite capacity to put a Lasting Power of Attorney in place. In this scenario, your loved ones will not automatically be able to make decisions on your behalf and will instead need to make an application to the Court of Protection, which can be a costly and slow process.

Trusts can be used for a variety of reasons and, often, these are not related to wealth. There is no minimum amount that can be held in a trust. Although the concept can sound complicated, it does not have to be. If you think a trust may be useful for you, please do get in touch.
