Kuljeet Takhar

Senior Associate, Real Estate Disputes

Why choose me

For someone with a keen interest in real estate and litigation, real estate dispute resolution is the best of both worlds. Complex issues can arise for clients in this area of law, so I work with them to ascertain their specific objectives in order to provide them with strategic advice and practical steps to move forward.

Working with commercial landlords and tenants, developers, telecoms operators and infrastructure providers and landowners, I provide expertise across real estate dispute resolution and telecoms. This includes lease renewals, dilapidations, forfeiture, nuisance, rent arrears, title disputes and trespassers for a range of tenant and landlord clients across different industries.

I have significant experience in the telecommunications industry, having worked in-house at a UK infrastructure provider of telecommunications. This means I’m experienced in both contentious and non-contentious issues concerning telecoms equipment on land and property under the Telecommunications Code 1984 and Electronics Communications Code 2017. This includes relocation and removal of equipment, lease or agreement renewals, code notices and dealing with proceedings.

Outside work, my passions include travelling, art, good food, golf, my family and business start-ups.

Questions my clients ask me

It is often difficult to accurately predict how much it will cost to bring a dispute to a final conclusion when we first discuss your case with you. This is as there are too many unknown factors such as the approach taken by your opponent and whether court proceedings prove necessary. Where possible, we will provide you with a scope of work and cost estimate so that you have a clear understanding of the work we will do for you and what our fees are likely to be.

We cannot guarantee a timeframe as every case is different and we cannot predict how a matter will unfold. Where possible, we will always give you an indication of timescales based on experience.

Using my specialist knowledge and experience, I will assess the merits of a case and its prospects of success from the outset and will be clear as possible with clients when providing them with this advice.
